Skit: Early Animal Care

Activity Description: Create and practice a simple animal care skit based on their knowledge.


Items Needed:

  • Stuffed animals or pictures of animals
  • (Optional) Real animal care items like brushes, bowls, or toys
  • (Optional) Blank paper
  • (Optional) Markers

Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 25 min):

  1. Brainstorm and assign care tips for the skit. (10–20 min).
    • Explain that sharing animal care tips through a presentation helps animals by teaching others to help them.
    • Have everyone choose a stuffed animal or pictures of an animal.
    • (Optional) Have them choose a matching care item.
    • Help them decide on one simple care tip to say about their choice.
    • (Optional) Write down the order of who speaks to form a custom script.
  2. Practice the skit layout and timing. (10–20 min).
    • Line everyone up in a straight line or a circle.
    • Have them practice stepping forward, showing their item, and saying their line.
    • Rehearse the sequence from start to finish.
  3. Perform the animal care skit for the audience. (5–10 min).
    • Present the skit at a campfire or during parent pick-up time.
    • Cue each person to step forward when it is their turn to speak.

Sample Script:

  • Line 1: “Dogs need a lot of exercise every day!” (Holds up a leash)
  • Line 2: “Fish need clean water to swim in!” (Holds up a water bowl)
  • Line 3: “Cats need a soft brush for their fur!” (Holds up a brush)
