History
“This Land Is Your Land” was written by Woody Guthrie (1912–1967) on February 23, 1940, in a small room at the Hanover House hotel in New York City. Guthrie wrote the song after hitchhiking and riding freight trains across the country, seeing the poverty and resilience of the American people during the Great Depression
