Lyrics

Oh, do you know the muffin man, the muffin man, the muffin man,
Oh, do you know the muffin man, That lives in Drury Lane.

Yes, I know the muffin man, the muffin man, the muffin man,
Yes, I know the muffin man, That lives in Drury Lane.

Two of us know the muffin man, the muffin man, the muffin man,
Two of us know the muffin man, That lives in Drury Lane.

Increase the number in verse three until all are chosen and end with:
All of us know the muffin man, the muffin man, the muffin man,
All of us know the muffin man, That lives in Drury Lane.

History

First documented in an 1820 manuscript, “The Muffin Man” is a traditional English nursery rhyme that reflects the daily life of Victorian London. Drury Lane, the location cited in the lyrics, was a real trade center where street vendors sold muffins door-to-door. In 1922, the song was included on page 44 of The Brownie Book as a game.
