Activity Description: Go on a scavenger hunt walk to identify and check off everyday items made from natural resources.
Items Needed:
- Natural Resources Scavenger Hunt (one for each pair)
- Pens or pencils
- (Optional) Clipboards to hold the hunt sheets
Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 45 min):
- Set up the hunt. (5 min)
- Group everyone into pairs to ensure they use the buddy system before leaving the area.
- Give a copy of the Natural Resources Scavenger Hunt and a writing utensil to every pair.
- Go on the hunt. (30 min)
- Take the walk and have the group mark off the items they see on their papers as they find them.
- Encourage them to look for things made of wood, cotton, plants, animals, and rock. Remind them to also look for items that use water, electricity, oil, soil, or batteries.
