Activity Description: Examine a natural object closely using a magnifying glass and draw what is seen.
Items Needed:
- Magnifying glasses
- Blank paper or sketchpads
- Pencils
- (Optional) Clipboards
Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 20 min):
- Search in nature. (5 min)
- Go outside and find a small natural object to study. Look for items like leaves, rocks, or tree bark.
- View it up close. (5 min)
- Look closely at the chosen object using the magnifying glass. Notice the small details, patterns, and textures. How does it look differently with the magnification compared to without?
- Draw it out. (10 min)
- Draw a picture of the object showing the magnified details. Use pencils to try and recreate exactly what they see.
