Note: Lasting Help is a service project that continues to benefit the community long after the original work is finished. This can be done by sharing knowledge or creating something permanent. This could be a structure or program that another organization will continue to do after the original set up is complete.
Activity Description: Creating a fun book that teaches people how to keep pets safe and happy.
Items Needed:
- Blank paper
- Coloring Tools
- Stapler
- (Optional) Printed Mini Animal Care Coloring Sheets
- (Optional) Scissors
- (Optional) Glue
Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 15 min):
- Fold the blank paper in half to make a booklet. (2 min).
- Make sure they line up the edges evenly.
- Staple the folded edge to hold the book together. (1 min).
- Draw a cover design showing a favorite pet. (2 min).
- Provide youth with markers or crayons for this step.
- Write a safety or care rule and draw a picture on each page. (10 min).
- They can draw their own pictures.
- (Optional) Color, cut out, and glue the mini coloring pages into the book with appropriate information written on each page.
