Animal Yoga

Activity Description: Introduce yoga poses that mimic animal shapes and movements to explore unique animal traits.


Items Needed:

  • Yoga mats or towels
  • (Optional) Printed or digital animal yoga guide

Before the Meeting Starts:

  1. Choose the Yoga Poses. (5 min)
    • Poses can be selected using online resources like kids yoga guides. Try simple ones Butterfly, Turtle, and Crane.

Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 15 min):

  1. Explain the activity. (2 min)
    • Explain that animal yoga involves stretching into shapes that mimic different animal movements.
  2. Try several poses. (10–15 min)
    • Guide the youth through at least three positions using a guide.
    • Demonstrate each shape clearly. Help them hold each position safely for a few moments.
  3. (Optional) Reflect. (5–10 min)
    • Lead a brief discussion about how animals come in all shapes and sizes. Ask them to share what unique traits their favorite animals have?
