Activity Description: Move with a song that has actions to explore how different creatures need food, exercise, and rest.
Items Needed:
- A movement song that explores food, exercise, and rest
- (Optional) Music player
Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 15 min):
- Introduce the song. (2 min)
- Gather everyone in an open space and explain that they will move and sing.
- Lead the song twice. (10 min)
- Lead the song once to get them familiar with the actions. Then do a second time to help them feel more confidence. Emphasize that they do not need to know the song fully, it’s just for fun to move and enjoy.
- Use motions that match the chosen song.
- Discuss the song. (3 min)
- Review the actions mentioned in the song together and talk about what each creature needs to stay healthy. Encourage showing what the animal needs and where it lives. Remind them that animals need food, exercise, and rest.
- Connect these needs to how people also need food, movement, and rest.
