History
The Busy Squirrels Song was introduced in 2010 as an optional activity for the “5 Flowers, 4 Stories, 3 Cheers for Animals!” Journey, part of the “It’s Your Story—Tell It!” series developed by the Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA). The song was specifically composed to support the “Birdbath Award,” the first of three leadership awards in the Daisy Scout curriculum.
The lyrics were written by Alice Carpenter, with music composed by Peter Capucilli. It was designed as movement song to teach how animals need things like exercise, food, and rest.
