Kinder Animal Care Scenarios

Activity Description: Explore simple animal‑care choices by looking at picture cards and deciding what to do in each situation.

Items Needed:

  • Printed Kinder Animal Scenario Cards
  • Open space for movement
  • (Optional) A basket or box to hold the cards
  • (Optional) Floor spots or cones to mark “Choice A” and “Choice B”

Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 10–15 min):

  1. Introduce the activity. (1–6 min)
    • Explain that the cards show different animal situations and youth will help choose what to do.
    • Youth can point, raise hands, or move to a side of the room to show their choice.
    • (Optional) Have the youth vote for which method to use.
  2. Show a scenario card. (1–2 min)
    • Hold up one Scenario Card and read the scenario aloud.
    • Let the youth know both choice options.
  3. Choose what to do. (1–2 min)
    • Have youth show their choice by the way it was decided in step one (point, raise hands, or move to a side of the room)
    • Ask one youth to share a simple reason on why they make that choice. Rotate which youth gets to share each time.
  4. Repeat with more cards. (6–8 min)
    • Read more Scenario Cards depending on time and attention span. Not all cards need to be used. Keep the pace quick and positive.
  5. Wrap up with a group connection. (1–2 min)
    • Ask youth to name one way they can help animals stay safe.
    • Celebrate that making choices can help animals and people.
