Games – Reverse Charades

Activity Description: A group acts out a prompt together while one youth guesses.


Items Needed:

  • Strips of paper with simple action prompts
  • A container or bowl to hold the strips of paper
  • (Optional) Extra paper and pens to add new prompts

Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 15–20 min):

  1. Prepare the prompts. (1–2 min)
    • Write simple actions on strips of paper and place them in the container.
  2. Choose a guesser. (1 min)
    • Pick one youth to stand facing away from the group.
  3. Select a prompt. (1 min)
    • Have another youth draw a strip of paper and show it to the group without the guesser seeing.
  4. Act out the prompt together. (3–5 min)
    • The whole group acts out the same action at the same time.
    • No speaking or props allowed.
  5. Guess the action. (3–5 min)
    • The guesser watches and tries to name the action.
    • Choose a new player to be the new guesser for the next round.
  6. Continue playing. (5–7 min)
    • Play until all have had a turn to be the guesser or time runs out.
