WTD – Learn the Story

Activity Description: Learn the four parts of the World Thinking Day story by acting out a simple campfire-style story together.

Items Needed:

  • The World Thinking Day Story
  • Open space for simple movements
  • (Optional) A pretend “campfire” made from pillows or paper

Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 10–15 min):

  1. Gather around the “campfire.” (2–3 min)
  2. Act out the four dates. (6–8 min)
    • When each date appears in the story, do a simple movement to help remember it:
      • 1926: A Special Day — clap once.
      • 1932: A Birthday Gift — pretend to hand a gift to a friend.
      • 1999: World Thinking Day — make a circle shape with your arms.
      • 2026: “Our Friendship” — hug youself.
  3. Repeat the story with motions. (4–5 min)
    • Read the story again and all scouts do the motions at the right moments. They try to remember the motions without reminders.
  4. (Optional) Play a quick memory game. (2–3 min)
    • Call out one of the four dates.
    • Youth show the matching motion as fast as they can.
  5. Reflect together. (2–3 min)
    • Talk about how the story connects youth around the world.
