Explore a Country

Activity Description: Explore another culture by using information about the country and learning about its traditions, daily life, and unique features.


Items Needed:

  • Cultural information (See Global Discovery Units)
  • (Optional) Paper and pencils for questions or notes
  • (Optional) Camera or phone for photos of finished work
  • (Optional) Space to display items or images from the packet

Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 20–40 min):

  1. Explore the information. (5–8 min)
    • Look through the information together.
    • Notice key topics such as daily life, food, language, geography, and traditions.
  2. Choose focus questions. (3–5 min)
    • Pick a few simple questions to guide learning, such as:
      • What do people eat?
      • What is the weather like?
      • What celebrations or traditions are important?
      • What is something unique about this country?
  3. Find the answers. (5–8 min)
    • Use the information to answer the questions.
    • Look for pictures, fun facts, or short explanations that help youth understand the culture.
  4. (Optional) Create a mini‑display. (3–15 min)
    • Draw or write one interesting thing learned from the packet. Make a small poster, card, or sketch inspired by the country.
  5. Reflect together. (2–4 min)
    • Share one new thing learned about the culture.
    • Talk about something that is similar to their own life and something that is different.
