Activity Description: Create a shared World Thinking Day heart craft as a group to celebrate global friendship and kindness.
Items Needed:
- Materials to make two small crafts per youth (such as heart-shaped suncatchers or another simple friendship craft)
- (Optional) Markers or crayons
- (Optional) String or ribbon
- (Optional) Extra decorations like stickers or tissue paper
- (Optional) Camera or device to take a group photo
Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 45–60 min):
- Learn the theme. (5–7 min)
- Talk with an adult about the World Thinking Day theme and how it connects youth around the world. Think about how art can show friendship and kindness.
- Make the first craft. (10–15 min)
- Use the materials to create a heart-shaped suncatcher or another simple friendship craft you can keep. Add colors or designs that remind you of friendship.
- Make the second craft. (10–15 min)
- Create a second craft to give to a friend, family member, or someone in your community. Add a small drawing or symbol that shares your message of friendship.
- Share your art. (5–8 min)
- Give the second craft to someone you choose. Tell them it is a reminder of friendship and caring.
- Celebrate together. (5–10 min)
- Look at everyone’s creations and notice how each one is unique.
- (Optional) Take a group photo with your finished crafts if allowed.
