Toy Making – No-Sew Felt Toy

Activity Description: Youth create a simple felt toy by cutting and gluing felt pieces into an animal or character.


Items Needed:

  • Felt sheets
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • (Optional) Googly eyes, buttons, or small decorations
  • (Optional) Paper and pencil for sketching designs
  • (Optional) Cotton Balls for stuffing

Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 25 min):

  1. Choose an animal or character to make. (3 min)
    • (Optional) Sketch the design on paper first.
  2. Cut felt into shapes. (7 min)
    • Cut pieces for the body, head, arms, legs, or other parts.
    • Use different colors if available.
  3. Arrange the pieces. (5 min)
    • Layer the felt pieces to build the toy.
    • Make sure everything fits before gluing.
  4. Glue the toy together. (5 min)
    • Press pieces gently and let the glue begin to dry.
  5. (Optional) Add decorations. (5 min)
    • Add eyes, buttons, or other small decorations to finish the toy.
    • Make a backing and use cotton balls sandwiched in-between to make a felt stuffed animal.
