Origami – Jumping Frog

Activity Description: Youth fold a square piece of paper into a simple jumping origami frog.


Items Needed:

  • Square piece of paper (about 5×5 inches)
  • (Optional) Markers or stickers for decorating

Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 20 min):

  1. Fold the paper in half from top to bottom. (2 min)
    • Unfold the paper to show the crease.
  2. Fold the paper in half from side to side. (2 min)
    • Unfold again to create a second crease.
  3. Fold all four corners into the center. (3 min)
    • Press the folds firmly so they stay in place.
  4. Fold the bottom edge up to the top point. (3 min)
    • This creates the start of the frog’s body.
  5. Fold the sides inward. (3 min)
    • Make sure the folds are even so the frog sits flat.
  6. Fold the bottom edge back and forth. (4 min)
    • This creates a springy back leg that helps the frog jump.
  7. Decorate the frog. (3 min)
    • (Optional) Add eyes or patterns with markers or stickers.
