G.S. Cookies – Interview Older Scout

Activity Description: Youth learn from older scouts about cookie sales responsibilities and how to take charge of their cookie business.


Items Needed:

  • An older scout or alum with cookie sales experience
  • Paper and pencils for notes
  • (Optional) Online resources or council forums with cookie sales ideas

Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 20–30 min):

  1. Invite an older scout or alum to share experiences. (5–7 min)
    • Ask about how cookie sales changed as they grew older.
    • Ask if they ever made mistakes and what they learned.
  2. Listen to advice about teamwork and responsibilities. (5–7 min)
    • Discuss the best ways to work together.
    • Identify different roles in a cookie business.
  3. Brainstorm troop responsibilities. (5–7 min)
    • Youth consider what their roles should be.
    • Write down ideas for how each role helps the troop.
  4. Decide how to take charge of the cookie business. (5–7 min)
    • Youth share what they will do to support the troop.
    • Record commitments to guide future cookie sales.
