Activity Description: Youth play charades in teams, earning points for correctly guessing prompts.
Items Needed:
- Strips of paper with prompts written on them (emotions, actions, or objects)
- A container or bowl to hold the strips of paper
- (Optional) Paper and pencils for keeping score
- (Optional) Timer or stopwatch
Before the Meeting Starts:
- Write prompts on strips of paper and place them in the container. (5 min)
- Examples include happy, reading a book, or riding a bicycle.
Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 20–30 min):
- Divide youth into two or more teams. (1–2 min)
- Each team should have an equal number of members.
- Have one team choose a performer. (2–3 min)
- The performer draws a strip of paper without showing it.
- The performer acts out the prompt without speaking or using props. (2–3 min)
- Their team has 1 minute to guess the word.
- If guessed correctly, the team earns 1 point.
- If not guessed, the other team gets one chance to steal the point.
- Rotate turns between teams. (10–12 min)
- Continue until all youth have had a chance to perform.
- Keep score on paper. (1–2 min)
- The team with the most points at the end wins.
- (Optional) Add a bonus round. (5 min)
- Mix harder prompts into the container.
- Correct guesses in this round are worth 2 points.
