G.S. Cookies – Cookie Fact Race

Activity Description: Youth race in teams to match cookie name cards with the correct flavor or cost cards


Items Needed:

  • Cookie name cards (with names all written separately)
  • Cookie fact cards (with flavors or costs written separately)
  • Tape or markers to place cards around the room
  • (Optional) Stopwatch or timer

Before the Meeting Starts:

  1. Prepare cookie fact and answer cards. (5–7 min)
    • Write cookie names on separate cards.
    • Write cookie facts (flavors or costs) on separate cards.
    • Make sure there are equal numbers of name cards and fact cards, even if you have to repeat a name card.
    • Choose whether to hide the names or hide the facts.
  2. Place the cards around the room. (3–4 min)
    • Tape them to walls or spread them out in visible spots.

Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 10–25 min):

  1. Divide youth into teams. (3–4 min)
    • Each team lines up at a starting point.
  2. Begin the cookie race. (1–2 min)
    • One youth from each team draws a card (either name or fact, depending on which set was hidden around the room).
    • They race to find the matching card in the room.
    • When they find it, they return to their team and place the match together.
    • The next youth in line takes a turn with a new card.
  3. Continue until all cards are matched. (5–6 min)
    • Teams check their matches for accuracy.
    • The team with the most correct matches or the fastest finish wins.
  4. (Optional) Shuffle cards and try again (10–15 min)
    • Play a second round by switching which set is hidden.
