Activity Description: Youth work to create a cookie fact chain showing cookie flavors, facts, and costs.
Items Needed:
- Construction paper strips
- Markers
- (Optional) Order cards
- (Optional) Computers, smartphones, or tablets with Digital Cookie/Smart Cookies
- (Optional) Tape or stapler to connect strips
Before the Meeting Starts:
- Set out piles of construction paper strips and markers. (5 min)
- Provide enough strips for each youth, pair, or small group.
Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 20–40 min):
- (Optional) Have youth work in pairs or groups to choose a cookie flavor. (5–7 min)
- Youth may choose more than one flavor if they want.
- Create cookie chain links. (10–15 min)
- Use the color of paper that matches the cookie package.
- Write descriptions, facts, or draw pictures of the cookie.
- (Optional) Use order cards or Digital Cookie/Smart Cookies with an adult as a resource.
- Connect all cookie links together. (5–7 min)
- Form one long cookie team chain.
- (Optional) Use tape or a stapler to secure links.
- (Optional) Display the cookie team chain. (5–6 min)
- Show the chain at the cookie booth to share cookie facts.
