Activity Description: Youth design and create decorations for their cookie booth using a chosen theme.
Items Needed:
- Plain paper
- Pens or pencils
- Poster board
- Coloring tools
- (Optional) Scissors
- (Optional) Glue or tape
- (Optional) Fabric, streamers, or other craft materials
- (Optional) Official merchandise related to chosen theme
- (Optional) Cookie Flavor pages
Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 20–40 min):
- Choose a theme. (2–3 min)
- Youth decide on a decoration theme together.
- Examples: cookie mascot, troop adventures, troop goals, animals, or sports.
- Remind them they must avoid copyright issues by creating original art or using official merchandise. (For example, printing the face of Harry Potter from the books or movie would be against copyright law, but buying merchandise to display or drawing the black glasses, a lightning bolt, or other generic wizard things is okay).
- Plan decorations. (4–5 min)
- Brainstorm what artwork, signs, or props will fit the theme.
- Create decorations. (10–20 min)
- Use paper, poster board, and craft supplies to design booth art.
- Draw, color, cut, and assemble decorations.
- Add selling material. (3–4 min)
- Youth make signs or posters with troop number and cookie prices. Use bold colors or creative designs to attract attention.
- (Optional) Include the troop goal to inform customers how the money earned will be spent.
- (Optional) Display practice. (3–4 min)
- Arrange decorations on a table or wall to see how they look together. Adjust placement to make the booth bright and inviting.
