Activity Description: Youth create cookie costumes from sturdy cardboard to wear themselves or to dress up stuffed animals.
Items Needed:
- Sturdy cardboard
- Scissors
- Paint or markers
- String or yarn
- Tape or glue
- (Optional) Fabric or decorations for extra details
- (Optional) Stuffed animals for mini costumes
Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 25–40 min):
- Cut the cardboard. (8–15 min)
- Youth cut large circles for full costumes or smaller circles for stuffed animals.
- Paint the cookies. (8–15 min)
- Use paint or markers to decorate the cardboard to look like cookie flavors.
- Add details such as mint swirls, caramel, or chocolate stripes.
- Attach string. (4–5 min)
- Tape or glue string to the cardboard. Wide ribbon can be used for one to be hung around the neck. Ribbon or string can be used to make shoulder straps when using two cookie disks.
- For stuffed animals, attach string to fit their size.
- (Optional) Add decorations. (4–5 min)
- Youth can add fabric, glitter, or other craft supplies for extra detail.
- Wear or display costumes. (6–8 min)
- Youth wear their cookie costumes or bring dressed‑up stuffed animals to booths. Costumes can also be used as props in troop photos or videos.
