G.S. Cookies – Cookie Songs

Activity Description: Youth create their own cookie‑themed song to share with the option of turning them into a marketing campaign.

Items Needed:

  • Plain paper
  • Pencils
  • (Optional) Cookie Chants by The Badge Archive
  • (Optional) Music or rhythm instruments like shakers or drums
  • (Optional) Smartphone or camera for recording

Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 15–30 min):

  1. Brainstorm cookie ideas. (2–3 min)
    • Youth think about cookie flavors or cookie sales. Write down words or phrases that could be used in a song.
    • (Optional) Use the Cookie Chants by The Badge Archive to spark ideas, or simply pick your favorites to use for this activity and skip to step 3.
  2. Pick a tune or rhythm. (5–10 min)
    • Youth choose a simple tune they know or make up a rhythm. Songs can be clapped, chanted, or sung.
    • Youth use their cookie words to create short lines. Keep lines easy to remember and fun to sing.
  3. Practice the song. (4–5 min)
    • Youth sing or chant their song together.
    • (Optional) Add body movements or dance steps to make the song more exciting.
  4. Perform for the troop. (4–5 min)
    • Each group shares their cookie song with everyone.
    • (Optional) Record songs, dances, chants, or cheers to start a “Flavor of the Week” campaign online with help and support from families.
