Activity Description: Youth create their own cookie‑themed song to share with the option of turning them into a marketing campaign.
Items Needed:
- Plain paper
- Pencils
- (Optional) Cookie Chants by The Badge Archive
- (Optional) Music or rhythm instruments like shakers or drums
- (Optional) Smartphone or camera for recording
Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 15–30 min):
- Brainstorm cookie ideas. (2–3 min)
- Youth think about cookie flavors or cookie sales. Write down words or phrases that could be used in a song.
- (Optional) Use the Cookie Chants by The Badge Archive to spark ideas, or simply pick your favorites to use for this activity and skip to step 3.
- Pick a tune or rhythm. (5–10 min)
- Youth choose a simple tune they know or make up a rhythm. Songs can be clapped, chanted, or sung.
- Youth use their cookie words to create short lines. Keep lines easy to remember and fun to sing.
- Practice the song. (4–5 min)
- Youth sing or chant their song together.
- (Optional) Add body movements or dance steps to make the song more exciting.
- Perform for the troop. (4–5 min)
- Each group shares their cookie song with everyone.
- (Optional) Record songs, dances, chants, or cheers to start a “Flavor of the Week” campaign online with help and support from families.
