G.S. Cookies – Cookie Seller Team Roles

Activity Description: Youth explore different cookie business team roles and practice them through creative role-play.


Items Needed:

  • Pen and paper to write role descriptions
  • (Optional) Paper and coloring supplies
  • (Optional) Play money
  • (Optional) Cookie packages or flavor cards
  • (Optional) Table for booth setup
  • (Optional) Decorations and signs for booth practice
  • (Optional) Older youth or adult leaders to act as experts

Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 20–25 min):

  1. Brainstorm team roles. (5–6 min)
    • As a group, list possible roles that would have a title and a responsibility (see sample list below for ideas).
    • Discuss how the roles worked together as a team.
  2. (Optional) Explore one role. (5–6 min)
    • Youth select a role they would like to try. Write or draw what the role does and why it is important.
  3. Practice roles in action. (8–10 min)
    • Set up a pretend booth or troop activity space. Youth act out their chosen roles:
      • Salesperson greets and explains cookie flavors.
      • Money Helper practices giving change with play money.
      • Poster Maker designs a sign for the booth.
      • Goal Tracker updates a chart or bottle with progress.
      • Cheer Captain encourages the group.
      • Practice Customer pretends to buy cookies.
  4. (Optional) Get feedback. (3–4 min)
    • Invite older youth or adult leaders to give suggestions based off the role-play. Talk about what roles could be added or improved for next time.

Sample Team Roles for Cookie Sellers

  • Salesperson – Talks to family, friends, or neighbors about cookies and takes orders.
  • Booth Seller – Works at the booth with one other Youth, greeting customers and handing out cookies.
  • Money Helper – Practices handling play money during troop activities and helps count change with adult guidance.
  • Goal Tracker – Marks progress on posters, charts, or “goal bottles” to show how many boxes have been sold.
  • Poster Maker – Designs signs or posters to display at booths or share with customers.
  • Cheer Captain – Leads the troop in cheering or encouraging each other when sales are slow.
  • Cookie Counter – Helps count cookie packages before and after booth sales.
  • Delivery Helper – Assists with organizing and carrying cookie packages when delivering to family or friends.
  • Thank‑You Note Writer – Creates thank‑you cards or drawings for customers.
  • Community Idea Scout – Suggests ways the troop can use cookie money to give back.
  • Role Switcher – Rotates between small tasks (greeting, holding signs, handing cookies) during booth practice.
  • Record Keeper – Helps write down sales numbers or tally votes during troop decision‑making.
  • Decorations Designer – Creates booth decorations, signs, or table displays.
  • Practice Customer – Pretends to be a customer during troop role‑play so sellers can practice.
  • Cookie Flavor Expert – Learns the cookie flavors and helps explain them to customers.
