Voting – Sticky Note Voting

Activity Description: Youth vote on their favorite options by placing sticky notes on the choices they like.


Items Needed:

  • Options displayed around the room
  • Sticky notes in different colors (Optional: one color per youth)

Before the Meeting Starts:

  1. Prepare the options. (3–4 min)
    • Display each option on a wall, table, or board.
    • Make sure there is space for sticky notes to be added.

Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 15–20 min):

  1. Distribute sticky notes. (2–3 min)
    • Give each youth a pad of sticky notes. (Optional: each youth gets their own color.)
  2. Place votes. (5–7 min)
    • Youth walk around and place sticky notes on the options they like.
    • (Optional) They may place more than one note, or a limit of how many sticky notes can be used in total may be set before the voting starts.
  3. Count the notes. (4–6 min)
    • Count the sticky notes on each option. Identify which options have the most votes.
    • Announce the winning options. Record the decisions so the group can follow them later.
