Voting – Simple Three Choice Vote

Activity Description: Youth vote by choosing between three options and deciding as a group which to do first.

Items Needed:

  • Three prepared options to vote on

Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 5–10 min):

  1. Present the choices. (3–4 min)
    • Show youth three options. Give a short explanation of each choice.
  2. Vote for favorites. (4–6 min)
    • Youth cast votes with a simple raise of hands choosing only their favorite option.
    • (Optional) Have youth lower their heads, close their eyes, and use one arm to cover their eyes to ensure no one is looking during the vote to allow for a private group vote. Their free arm is the one they can raise their hands to vote.
    • Count the votes to find the top choice.
  3. Plan the top choice. (<1 min)
    • Select the option with the most votes to do first. Schedule time to complete this choice.
  4. Use runner‑up choices. (<1 min)
    • Plan to complete the second choice afterward.
    • (Optional) Reintroduce the third choice in later voting rounds if youth show interest. Continue presenting three options at a time. Repeat voting and planning as needed.
