Activity Description: Youths play a simple “Would You Rather” game using cookie flavors and dice to compare different cookie amounts.
Items Needed:
- Cookie packages
- (Optional) Print out Cookie Flavor pages and cut up flavors to use as cards in place of packages (see links for flavors pages below instructions)
- One pair of dice
- (Optional) Paper for keeping track of choices
Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 10–20 min):
- Set out the cookie flavors. (1–2 min)
- Lay out cookie packages or photos so Youth can see all the options.
- Choose two cookie flavors. (1–2 min)
- Youth will compare two cookie flavors at a time. Dice will decide how many of each cookie they imagine having.
- A Youth selects any two cookie flavors to compare. Place the two chosen flavors in front of the group.
- Roll the dice to get numbers. (1–2 min)
- Roll one die for the first cookie flavor. Roll the second die for the second cookie flavor. The numbers show how many of each cookie they imagine having.
- Ask the “Would You Rather” question. (2–3 min)
- Youth decide which option they would rather have. i.e. “Would you rather have 6 Trefoil cookies or 2 Thin Mint cookies?”
- Note that speaking the names helps them remember them the names and they need to know the flavors to know which one they would rather enjoy.
- Take turns. (4–5 min)
- Each youth gets a turn choosing flavors and rolling the dice. Youth may repeat flavors or try new combinations.
- (Optional) Track favorites. (3–4 min)
- Youth can mark which cookie combinations were the most popular.
