Activity Description: Youth make a personal goals stick to track cookie sales progress.

Items Needed:

• Have a Troop Goal already decided
• Wooden paint stirrers or rulers
• Black markers
• Rubber bands or thin ribbons
• (Optional) Coloring supplies for decorating

Before the Meeting Starts:

1. Create a Sample Stick. (5-10 min)
   • Mark one paint stirrer or ruler to make a sample stick to as a way to show what the markings should look like.
   • Keep the numbers off the stick until the meeting when the troop goal is decided.

Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 20-40 min):

1. Track troop goals. (5-10 min)
   • Show the sample stick created before the meeting to explain how the stick is used to track goals.
   • Use a black marker to write the correct number for the troop goal on the top of the stick. Start with a low number at the bottom and move up to the main goal at the top.
   • Wrap a rubber band or thin ribbon around the bottom of the stick.
   • Place the decorated tracker in a visible spot for the troop. Explain that it will be updated each meeting to celebrate progress together.
2. Mark cookie goals. (10 min)
   • Give each youth a wooden paint stirrer or ruler.
   • Youth use a black marker to write or draw cookie goals along the stick. Start with a low number at the bottom and move up to the main goal at the top.
   • (Optional) Draw pictures on one side to remind them of their goals.
3. Add the tracker band. (5 min)
   • Wrap a rubber band or thin ribbon around the bottom of the stick.
   • Youth will move the band upward each time a sales goal is met.
4. (Optional) Share and celebrate. (5-10 min)
   • Youth show their personal goal sticks.
