G.S. Cookies – Basic Group Goal Tracker

Activity Description: Youths create and decorate a troop goal tracker to show progress toward their cookie package goal.


Items Needed:

Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 20 min):

  1. Review troop package goal. (1–2 min)
    • Remind Youth of the troop’s chosen cookie package goal. Show a Goal Tracker and explain how it will be used to track progress.
  2. Practice updating the tracker. (5–6 min)
    • Show how to color in or mark sections of a Goal Tracker as packages are sold.
    • Youth take turns filling in a small section to see how it works.
  3. Set up group tracker. (4–5 min)
    • Trace a new Goal tracker on poster paper to make a larger display.
    • Youth help decorate the poster with troop colors, mascot, or fun designs.
  4. Predict progress. (3–5 min)
    • Ask Youth to make simple predictions about how much closer the troop will be at the next meeting. Encourage them to think about teamwork and how every package helps.
  5. Display the tracker. (2–3 min)
    • Place the decorated tracker in a visible spot for the troop. Explain that it will be updated each meeting to celebrate progress together.
