G.S. Cookies – Online Shopping Cart

Activity Description: Youths explore cookie names and prices using the Digital Cookie or Smart Cookies site and practice adding items to a shopping cart.

Items Needed:

  • Order cards
  • Computer, tablet, or smartphone
  • (Optional) Reminder emails sent to families for support

Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 10–20 min):

  1. Talk about favorite cookies (2–3 min)
    • Ask Youth to share their favorite cookie flavors.
    • Let them know it’s okay if they don’t know Girl Scout Cookie names yet.
  2. Explore cookie types online (4–6 min)
    • Use the Digital Cookie or Smart Cookies site to show the cookie options. Say each cookie name and have Youth repeat it using silly voices.
    • Talk about what makes each cookie different and how much they cost.
  3. Practice using the shopping cart (4–6 min)
    • Ask Youth to choose one cookie and add it to the cart. Ask how much it costs.
    • Add a second cookie and ask how much it costs now.
    • Ask if the second box cost the same as the first.
  4. Try more combinations (2–5 min)
    • Let Youth try adding different cookies or more boxes. Encourage them to figure out the total cost.
