Activity Description: Youths explore Girl Scout Cookie types and prices, then practice buying cookies using play money.
Items Needed:
- Order cards
- Cookie packages or pictures of cookie packages
- Play money
- (Optional) Print and cut out enough $1 and $5 fake money from the Pretend Shopping (at DS Brownie Girl Scouts) file for each small group
- (Optional) Table or floor space to display cookies
Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 10–20 min):
- Talk about favorite cookies (2–3 min)
- Ask Youth to share their favorite cookie flavors.
- Let them know it’s okay if they don’t know Girl Scout Cookie names yet.
- Introduce Girl Scout Cookies (4–6 min)
- Show cookie packages, pictures, or order cards.
- Say each cookie name in a fun way and have Youth repeat it.
- Talk about what makes each cookie different or the same.
- Practice buying cookies (4–6 min)
- Ask which cookie each Youth would buy and how much it costs.
- Use play money to “buy” one package.
- Then count how much is needed to buy two or three packages.
