Activity Description: Youths share their introduction while eating a saltine cracker for a fun twist.
Items Needed:
- Two saltine crackers per Youth
- (Optional) Napkins or small plates
- (Optional) Water cups for after the activity
Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 10–15 min):
- Pass out crackers (2–3 min)
- Each Youth receives two saltine crackers. Remind them not to eat the crackers yet.
- Begin introductions (8–10 min)
- Choose one Youth to start. They eat both crackers and introduce themselves while chewing.
- After they finish, select the next Youth to do the same.
- Continue until everyone has had a turn.
Optional Reflection:
- Wrap up and reflect (2–3 min)
- Offer water or a short break if needed.
- Celebrate the group’s effort and enjoy the shared laughter.
Variations
- Add a Fun Question: Ask scouts to share an additional fun fact or answer a lighthearted question during their introduction, such as their favorite color, hobby, or a dream adventure.
- Non-Cracker Option: Substitute crackers with another safe, dry food (e.g., pretzels) if needed.
- Team Version: Divide scouts into smaller groups and have them complete the activity together before sharing highlights with the whole group.
- Relay Format: Make it a relay-style game where scouts eat their crackers and “pass the turn” to the next scout in a fun way, such as clapping or saying a silly word.
