Activity Description: Youths introduce themselves by creating short, fun rhymes.
Items Needed:
- Paper for each Youth
- Pen or pencil for each Youth
Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 15–20 min):
- Write a personal poem (8–10 min)
- Include their name.
- Mention something about them.
- Be at least four lines long.
- (Optional) Use a “name poem” format if they like, where each letter of their first name starts a line in the poem.
- Share with the group (5–7 min)
- Youth take turns reading their poem aloud to introduce themselves.
Optional Reflection:
- Reflect and celebrate (2–3 min)
- Talk briefly about how poems can show personality.
- Display poems or send them home as keepsakes.
Variations
- Team Project: Youths can write the group’s name instead of their individual names and decorate the letters together.
- Themes: Assign a theme for the poems, such as hobbies, favorite activities, or things related to the group’s interests.
