- Coloring Tools (Crayons, Markers, or Colored Pencils)
Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 15–20 min):
- Write name in large letters (3–5 min)
- Each Youth writes their name across the paper using big, clear letters.
- Letters should be spaced out to leave room for decorating.
- Decorate each letter (8–10 min)
- Youth turn each letter into a drawing that shows something about them or surrounded or filled by things they like. Encourage creativity and individuality.
- Example: An “O” could be turned into a smiley face for someone who loves being cheerful.
- Example: A “W” could become a person waving their arms with pompoms to represent a love for cheerleading.
- Youth turn each letter into a drawing that shows something about them or surrounded or filled by things they like. Encourage creativity and individuality.
- Share with the group (4–5 min)
- Youth take turns showing their decorated name and explaining one or two drawings. Celebrate the different styles and interests.
Variations
- Team Project: Youths can draw the group’s name instead of their individual names and decorate the letters together.
- Themes: Assign a theme for the drawings, such as hobbies, favorite activities, or things related to the group’s interests.
