“It” Bag

Activity Description: Youths take turns being “it” using a fair rotation system that ensures everyone gets a chance.


Items Needed:

  • Two labeled bags or containers (“It” and “Other”)
  • Name slips for each Youth

Before the Activity:

  • Prepare the name slips (2 min)
    • Write each Youth’s name on a separate slip of paper.
    • Place all name slips into the “It” bag.

Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 2–3 min):

  1. Select who will be “it” (1–2 min)
    • Draw one name from the “It” bag.
    • That Youth takes their turn as “it.”
  2. Move the name to the “Other” bag (1 min)
    • After their turn, place their name slip into the “Other” bag.
    • Continue drawing from the “It” bag. Repeat until all names are used.
    • When the “It” bag is empty, move all names back from the “Other” bag to restart the rotation.
