Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 10–15 min):

  1. Give compliments around the circle (10–15 min)
    • Sit in a circle as a group. Make sure everyone can see and hear each other.
    • Youth #1 says their name and compliments the youth on their right.
    • That youth says “Thank you” and repeats youth #1’s name.
    • Then they say their own name and compliment the next youth on their right.
    • Continue until everyone has both given and received one compliment.
    • (Optional) Give time to think of compliment ideas before starting.

Optional Reflection:

  1. Reflect together (5–10 min)
    • Youth think about how it felt to give and receive kind words.
    • Remind youth that positive words help everyone feel seen and valued.
    • (Optional) Ask youth to share one compliment they liked or a time someone noticed something kind or unique about them.
